Of the billions of people that have walked the planet and the billions that continue to do so, I can say for certain, that there hasn't been a single human being whose life was a smooth ride from start to end.
Life really is a combination of smooth and rough seas and you just have to experience both. There's no escaping this fact, even though we would all like to just sail on smooth seas.
But life is full of ironies and one is that, it is the rough patches of life that teach us more than the good times. As they say, 'failure is a far better teacher than success."
One of those priceless things that the tough times teach us is maturity. This is something that I have learnt myself this year after many ups and downs.
Maturity - A Torch To Navigate Life
One of my favourite observations about life is that life is the sum of all the decisions you have ever taken, big or small. Even a small decision could result in a huge change and a totally different future.
Therefore taking the right decisions is really important. With age, I think, that increases naturally but it is the tough times that make our decision making even better. That's because tough times make us mentally stronger and provides us with valuable experiences that last a lifetime.
We become more mature and therefore are able to take decisions that are holistic in nature. One of my favorite definitions of maturity is this, "Maturity is a state of mind where you realize that the outcome of your life and that of those who depend on you, is your responsibility." I read it on Quora and loved it.
As adults, there are a lot of responsibilites on our shoulders and so, it is really important to have that level of maturity to take as many right decisions as possible. A lot is riding on those decisions.
