Spend your STEEM at Brisbane Airport
A few days ago I reported that retailers across the Brisbane suburb of Fortitude Valley were accepting payments via cryptocurrencies, including STEEM: Retailers Accepting STEEM in Brisbane, Australia - TravelbyBit.
10 retailers have signed on initially, with the Brisbane Airport Corporation expecting more to follow.
The same company facilitating cryptocurrency payments for Fortitude Valley retailers are now also providing the same service for retailers at Brisbane Airport. TravelbyBit () is the company behind this and they setup merchants so they can accept payment with cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, Litecoin and STEEM, as well as fiat and traditional card payments.

The Brisbane Airport Coorporation’s general manager for strategic planning and development, Roel Hellemons, said it was:
“just the beginning for us as we hope to expand the digital currency option across the business”.
“Many people around the world have made money investing in cryptocurrencies and a lot of these people travel internationally, so it makes sense to offer a digital currency experience within our terminals,” Hellemons said.
“We’re also proud to be the first airport in the world to achieve this in partnership with a small local start-up business such as TravelbyBit, whose pioneering thinking is drawing attention to Brisbane as a serious breeding ground of innovative thinking.”
Brisbane is starting to lead the world when it comes to accepting STEEM as an option for payments at regular store-front retailers. This is just another step towards the wide-spread acceptance of STEEM as a form of payment for good and services.
