Yesterday after a real estate photoshoot, I decided to trust my sunset prediction apps and more importantly, I trusted my eyes. Everything was looking like we were going to be in for a treat so on my way home I took a little detour and then took a little hike up to this bench on the Stateline Lookout Trail, above Lake Tahoe. It's a flat blocked off road up to this spot, fairly easy but a fairly steep and long hike.
Here's the spot where I hung out and waited.
Earlier, I knew there was a slight chance I would be staying at the lake for a sunset, so I had packed a beer and got to enjoy it while I waited... Cheers!!! Really, I didn't have to wait that long this time.
Boom! The colors exploded! Better than expected, it was the kind of sunset that was beautiful no matter which way you looked. This view was looking northeast.
Here's the final shot below. A stitched panoramic photo. I shot some standard format images but this view works best as a big wide angle panorama in my opinion.
Shot on a Canon 5DS R with a 16-35mm lens, set to 29mm. The ISO for each image was 50, the lens aperture was f/14, and each exposure was 10 seconds long. Two graduated neutral density filters were used on the front of the lens in order to balance out the sky exposure with the foreground exposure.
Thanks for looking and I hope you are all having a great day!
