My wife and I finally signed up for Netflix about a year ago and we have watched many many movies since. Tonight, we watched Lawless.
I've seen a little bit about the cinetv community so I thought I'd try a movie review here and see if it's something I want to do more regularly since we have been watching a fair amount of films lately.
The preview for this one looked interesting so without knowing too much about the movie, we sat down to dinner and gave it a go.
My initial thoughts are, I liked it! Plenty of moonshine, lawlessness, and violence. Yes, I like a violent movie now and then to get me worked up a bit, I find it fun. The story was believable enough, in fact, it is supposedly based on a true story. Moonshiners that refused to cooperate with the corrupt law and the drama and gun fights that go with that sort of thing.
I didn't find it too preachy like so many movies these days. Just fun to watch and the type of movie you can get lost in without thinking too much about the production or meaning. Genuinely entertaining and I didn't feel like it was a waste of my time. My only complaint is that I didn't have a jar of moonshine to sip on while viewing the film.
I won't go too much into the actual story, but know that I would recommend this movie to a friend, definitely not the worst movie on Netflix.
Cheers!
