I have been resting awhile, dear Steemit
But now it is time to introduce myself...
I am , affectionately known as "Mim." This is the first painting I have done in a long time. Not only that, but this is my first LARGE painting. I am used to smaller canvases and sketch-paper. Usually I do watercolor, but I decided to break free of my preconceptions and give acrylic another try.
Never have I painted such a large canvas before
With the little extra cash I earned, I was able to afford a sized 24" x 30" stretched canvas. And I was so surprised and delighted, that I did not even know what to paint! Stars? Landscape? It was daunting to envision how much paint this was going to take.
Many ideas crossed my mind
But, eventually I fell back to my trees. I have always loved to paint them, I tell myself. This time I will just do it in acrylic and see what happens. But, I knew I could count on them to make a unique presentation...
Trees have always been my favorite
If you look closely, the trees become people. A unique, flowing outline with hanging tendrils accents the trees in a way that contrasts. The pink tree and the pink sky draw attention two directions, again contrasting. And the soft, rolling hills contrast nicely with the billowy sky. I was attempting to re-create the atmosphere that exists when it's raining outside, but the sun is still shining...
...What do you think? I signed it Mim, because that is what my daughter calls me...
