this morning our little dive shop in Moalboal feels almost, almost normal again. 3 times a week now I have enough divers to fill the boat to the new normals allowable capacity (50% of its usual allowed passengers) All the divers are pretty much regulars. They either live here or have been here since Feb and decided to ride out the quarantine here in the sun.
Heres Vinnie bringing the boat in, it's only 7:20am. I've been here a while doing my usual coffee morning. The mornings here are beautiful and peaceful with great views of Negros Island on the other side of the Tañon Strait.
Divemaster Earl is an early riser and is getting his gear ready before the guests start to roll in. We trained him up and he's learned the value of getting ahead of the game. He'e a cool kid too always smiling.
The Ladies are here also now getting all the paperwork ready. We have more protocols to follow with temperature checks and contact tracing forms etc so they are getting prepped and trying to ignore Vinnie being a clown as usual.
BJ the other Divemaster is outside patiently waiting for the guests to arrive.
and here they come
Ricks arrived, he walks 35 mins here everday and and the 35mins back, keeping healthy during the pandemic times is important.
We have decided to keep all group sizes to no more than 2 people per Divemaster or instructor. Everyone onboard has now been diving together since before lockdown so they are really one big team but its nice to keep the individual groups smaller. They are now like a well oiled machine and know exactly what is expected of them with all the new rules and they understand completely. It's nice not to have to play dad and keep reminding people.
