Hail to the Hive!
So today I decided to venture out again and find some of the artwork from the previous ’Bring the Paint Festival’ and also see where they are painting the new creations. So I decided to focus on just one little area of the city and plumped for the ‘Cultural Quarter’ is, which is where the Curve Theatre and Phoenix arts theatre is.
As I ventured down a side street near the Curve Theatre I immediately came across artwork from the previous festival held 2 years ago.
These stunning images are on the frontage of a back street mechanics, I bet they were well happy with this being done to their garage doors. Very cool indeed.
This whole area seems to have been earmarked for lots of work previously and is a hotbed of vibrant work on may of the walls and buildings.
On a dreary, grey, wet & miserable day it really does inject a bit of life and light into the back streets of the city.
And then I found where there were two new projects that were just being started. One was in full swing, which Inwill revisit in a few days to see the progress
And one was just getting the white wash treatment to create a blank canvas for the new creation soon to be unleashed onto the wall of this backstreet building. Looking forward to seeing them evolve.
On my stroll around the area I found another location not yet started and then more great work from previous festivals.
One thing I was particularly happy to see is that it seems to have been left alone by anyone tagging and they’ve not been defaced.
Which is good to see as this collection of work in this particular area really has made a drab backstreet come alive with colour and vibrancy.
It’s a fantastic thing to have reached out to the streetart community and embraced this to give the whole city a bit of a lift. I’m sure it has provoked many a conversation about not just graffiti but art in general and the effect it has had on the City of Leicester.
Clearly celebration of the ‘Bring the Paint Festival’ and good to see it is being done again which is an indication of the positive feedback that must have been garnered by the legacy of the event.
Leaving behind some beautiful artwork to be enjoyed by all.
I will be back with part 3 to show the progress and some of the works photographed in progress in parts 1 & 2 and with some new discoveries also.
I hope you have enjoyed the art as much as I have discovering it!
