**Here are a few mildly interesting things about me:**
- I'm the founder of 3 companies which I guess makes me a serial entrepreneur but that sounds "douchey."
- I had my son at 18 years old. Imagine telling your Asian mom you're going to be a dad at 18...that was tough.
- I was a nationally decorated wrestler in high school and have been fortunate enough to have competed with many of the guys fighting in the UFC.
- I was a personal trainer for 9 years and left that industry to start the companies that I'm currently with.
- I have my own workout DVD which doesn't sell very many copies but it's cool to mention when I'm trying to impress a girl :)
- I would love to one day start a non-profit to help raise money for children born with cancer.
My name is Sean Nelson - I'm 30 years old, born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
Growing up - I was only good at two things. Making girls laugh and wrestling. My academics on the other hand were a completely different story. In order to stay eligible for wrestling...I had to pass my classes and I vividly remember my high school wrestling coach telling one of the Asian wrestlers that "It's your responsibility to have Sean pass Algebra;" which pretty much meant that he had to help me cheat on every assignment.
I was extremely focused on only two things in high school being the #1 ranked wrestler in the state and being a boyfriend. That shows you the level of immaturity I had at 17 years old. And just like with most sexually active teenagers - accidents happen; and sure enough my girlfriend of two years became pregnant. I had two choices when I found out I was going to be a dad - take an out of state athletic scholarship and miss the first 5 years of my son's youth or forfeit the scholarship and be present for his upbringing. I was very fortunate to have both my parents raise me so I decided it wouldn't be fair to not give my son the same thing.
Since I was an athlete in high school - I was naturally interested in fitness which led me to become a personal trainer at both Bally Total Fitness and LA Fitness. After a few years at both of those gyms, I decided to branch off and start my own personal training business which had a slow start but ended up doing very well once things got going.
I'm often asked why I decided to stop training clients and truth be told - after 6 years of working with clients privately...I began to grow bored of the industry. I couldn't see myself being 40 or 50 years old and babysitting women while they did push ups and jumping jacks. I was very well paid so money wasn't the issue. It's hard to put into words why I left the fitness industry other than...I wanted more for myself.
**Fast Forward To Present Day**
I've built three companies but I'm far from what you would consider a wildly "successful entrepreneur." I don't have my own yacht, private jet and I definitely don't have the kind of money to "make it rain" at the clubs...but what I do have is the ability live a extremely comfortable life, I can pretty much work whenever I want, go to the gym in the middle of the day and most importantly...spend a lot of quality time with my son.
I want to "thank you" for taking the time to read my bio and if you have any questions surrounding either fitness or entrepreneurship then I'm more than happy to answer them for you.
