We visited Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori in Osaka on New Year's Eve 2015, and while this place is always crowded, you can imagine how even more lively and squeezy it was on the evening before 2016 arrived!
But one thing for me is that I am relatively unfazed by the crowds during this season and probably my mood when travelling to Japan overwhelms any negative emotions of crowds bumping into me. This was really well put by in her post here where she wrote:
Have you ever been to a place so busy, where people come from all directions, where you might get bumped by someone, but still, your mood doesn't falter?
That really resonated with me.

We went strolling around Shinsaibashi, as I still do today. One of the shops we always buy a snack from is Maison de Gigi.
We got ourselves a Chocolate Belgian Waffle! Last year when I visited Shinsaibashi, we also talked to the owner, and he actually told us that they opened in Singapore before, but had to close down as rent became too expensive.
So what's this fun activity to do at Dotonbori!?
Get yourself captured on camera and seen by everyone walking by!!
Look at this quirky and fun looking wall. Spot that small tv screen there? You need to pace around a little to figure out where the camera is pointing. Most of the time there will be people there posing, so it won't be hard to spot!
Let's zoom in and take a look! Try to get an unhindered shot hehe
