St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna
After a 3-hour long bus trip from Budapest (with stunning scenery out the window by the way!), we finally made it to Vienna. We had an apartment to ourselves just north of the river, very close to the town centre. Walking into the town, you're immediately overwhelmed by the grandeur and sophistication of the buildings and architecture, one of which is none other than St. Stephen's Cathedral. Finished in 1365, the cathedral stands on the ruins of two earlier churches and has two spires (north tower and south tower). Be sure to climb the south tower for a breathtaking view of Vienna. The north tower on the other hand gives views to the beautiful tilework atop the roof, as depicted in the photos below. It's quite pricey at around 5 euros per tower, but it's absolutely worth it.
