It's been a while since we visited Cebu's Southern and Western parts during our free weekends. Together with my friends, we explore some of the beautiful places in Cebu. Thankfully my friends were on the go to the places we had not yet visited.
The adventure starts...
Our first stop is the amazing "Labyrinth Maze Garden" in Toledo City Cebu. It's a 25-meter garden wide with a lot of puzzled paths to reach the center point. The center point is an image of the Virgin Mary carrying in her arms an image of Baby Jesus.
Before you can tour around the area, you had to pay Php 100.00 or 1.79 USD per person. Aside from the Labyrinth Maze, you can also visit the European-style of Capilla Sta. Ana nearby.
It was an amazing experience being in the garden. though it has a lesser area compared to other mazed gardens surely you will sweat looking for the correct path that will lead you to the center. A fulfilling achievement if you reach the inner portion.
The green grasses around are truly captivating. It will make you heal and relax. You will cross so many paths before you will reach the center point. Just like in life, where we cross so many shortcuts to what we want in life and sometimes it may lead us to failure. Yet, that won't end our mission instead that will make us stronger and more determined to achieve success.
Nearby the maze garden is a European-style Capilla Sta. Ana. You can see a lot of religious relics inside Capilla Sta. Ana. You may also visit the second floor and witness the beauty of the entire chapel. There are different rooms inside the chapel where you can witness different old religious relics. But there are rooms where you can just see and observe but no picture takings are allowed.
If you wish to ask for a tour guide to the entire place, yes you will be provided with a 30-minutes historical guide. For sure you will learn a lot from the tourist guide because they are more familiar f the different relics placed inside the chapel.
The place will be reached by bus/motorcycle/private cars. The place is just along the highway. Just navigate Capilla Sta. Ana Museum. Or if you are riding by bus, just tell the driver to drop you off at Capilla Sta. Ana/Labyrinth Maze Garden.
Next stop, we had the chance to visit Alegria Heritage Park, Cebu. It has a smaller area compared to the maze garden in Toledo City. The plaza has its name ÄLEGRIA" which is made of stones. The word Alegria comes from the Spanish word "álegre" meaning cheerful persons. The heritage park of Alegria can be seen just along the highway which connects you to the sea for a refreshing view.
The main highlight of the Alegria Heritage Park is the "Bantayan sa Hari" or watchtowers which soldiers used to watch out to alert locals whenever pirates are coming to attack the villages during the Spanish period. It is built and located just across from the church of Saint Xavier.
You can set and relax on the benches allocated for the tourist in the place. Because of their green grasses around, and wide open space, you can also bring your kids and your family with you to enjoy the magnificent view.
This bird-formation plant caught my attention. It was so beautiful. Feels like it symbolizes a watchman in the place of some invaders who will ruin the place. Kidding aside.😄 It was a relaxing stop-over to this place and feel the fresh air coming from the sea.
Realizations
Though we face a lot of challenges and uncontrolled circumstances on the adventure trip we had, yet, it was a fulfilling part seeing how beautiful Cebu is. It's a nice feeling that you can personally see the beautiful spots around us and not only by pictorials on the internet.
This adventure is also our way of taking a break from piled paperwork we had. Just like our life, we had ups and downs but we should face them fiercely to overcome them. A lot of shortcuts you may take but make sure that you will reach your goal or your destination place.
