Last week, during our visit to Hawaii, we watched a demonstration at the Dole Pineapple Plantation in Oahu, Hawaii regarding how to properly prepare a pineapple.
The first step is to twist off the stem and let it sit for 1-2 days to dry it out and then put it in water until new roots grow out. You can actually, grow up to 6 pineapples using this method.
Slice the pineapple in half.
Slice the pineapple in quarters.
Further, slice the pineapple into eights and then utilize a pineapple knife to slice the fruit.
After slicing the fruit, wash it in water to remove the acidity. Then, place the fruit back into the pineapple shell for a lovely natural serving display.
The red fruit seasoning (li hing powder) is supposed to bring out the flavor of the pineapple. Our family actually prefers the authentic taste of the pineapple.
