Altered Carbon is one of those TV series that in the era of peak TV struggles to emerge despite an indisputable quality. Netflix's sci-fi series comes back with a second season and a recasting that makes it look a lot like a reboot. Judging from the first episode it seems that the authors have learned from their mistakes, immediately creating a much more linear and understandable story and spreading it on only 8 episodes. This choice is important because it will allow you to better follow the TV series from the beginning to the end, without getting lost in the many complex mechanisms that governed the past season. Anthony Mackye is Takeshi Kovacs and replaces Joel Kinnaman as the protagonist. A choice that will have to impose itself gradually in the story and that only one episode is not enough to understand and judge it. The production effort is remarkable and the visual effects, which were excellent even in the first season, were very good. The first impression is excellent but, as I said at the beginning, the idea remains that there is no more time and space for excellent but not excellent series, not emotionally devastating, not surprising in this era of television where we find excellent products month after month.
Altered Carbon è una di quelle serie tv che nell'epoca della peak tv faticano ad emergere nonostante una qualità indiscutibile. La serie fantascientifica di Netflix torna con una seconda stagione e con un recasting che la fa assomigliare moltissimo ad un reboot. A giudicare dal primo episodio sembra che gli autori abbiano imparato dai propri errori, creando da subito una storia molto più lineare e comprensibile e spalmandola solo su 8 episodi. Questa scelta è importante perchè permetterà di seguire meglio la serie tv dall'inizio alla conclusione, senza perdersi nei tanti complessi meccanismi che hanno governato la stagione passata. Anthony Mackye è Takeshi Kovacs e sostituisce Joel Kinnaman nei panni del protagonista. Una scelta che dovrà imporsi man mano nel racconto e che un solo episodio non basta a comprenderla e giudicarla. E' notevole lo sforzo produttivo ed ottimi gli effetti visivi, che anche nella prima stagione erano ottimi. La prima impressione è ottima ma come detto in apertura resta l'idea che oramai non ci sia più tempo e spazio per serie ottime ma non eccellenti, non devastanti emotivamente, non sorprendenti in quest'epoca televisiva dove di prodotti ottimi ne troviamo a decine mese dopo mese.
