The other day my friend called me up because he's planning to sell off his old Mitsubishi Triton and get a new car. Just like my Cefiro his car has been coming out problems nonstop which gave him a migraine. He was looking into a RM40k range budget, and he doesn't want to get the same car as me (Proton Inspira), so Proton Suprima S was listed by him as one of his choice.
We went to Proton showroom at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara. We have a chance to get the test drive but unfortunately we had to wait for a an hour plus because there are other people who appointed for test drive as well, so we ate McDonald's nearby while discussing about the car. The car itself is powered by inline 4 1.6cc engine, also runs a small turbo. It also runs a 7-speed CVT transmission. I'm not going to list out all about the safety measures like ABS and airbags as these are pretty much standard or available in many types of vehicle especially today.
After my friend took it for a spin, then it's my turn for a ride. We were guided by the staff on which road to use. We took the highway that goes to Mont Kiara / Sri Hartamas without crossing the toll as there is a big U-turn before that. I managed to abuse it a little because there aren't many cars that day, it was quite satisfying.
The car feels smooth and have a significant torque despite the car's weight and size. Even though the turbo is small and I can only hear the turbo spooling sound just a little (it's an eco turbo after all). Overall this car is quite nice to drive for me. 138 of horsepower but 205 Nm of torque, higher than my Proton Inspira.
