I didn’t go there to see him.
I went there to end it.
The bus stop was crowded, like always.
People coming and going, buses stopping, horns everywhere.
But somehow, everything felt distant.
He walked up to me and said, “Hey.”
I looked up. “Hey.”
And then we just stood there.
No real conversation.
Just that uncomfortable silence you can’t fill, no matter how hard you try.
I had already decided.
I wasn’t going to drag it out.
So I said, “Can I be honest with you for a second?”
He nodded. “Yeah.”
I took a breath and said it, simple and clear—
“I don’t think this is working anymore.”
For a second, he just stared at me.
Like he wasn’t expecting it.
Then he let out a small laugh and said,
“Yeah… I was going to say the same thing.”
I didn’t react.
Because somehow… that made sense.
Maybe we both knew it for a while,
we just didn’t say it out loud.
A bus pulled up right then.
I adjusted my bag and said, “Take care.”
He said, “You too.”
And that was it.
No drama.
No begging.
No confusion.
I got on the bus, found a seat by the window, and didn’t look back.
Sometimes, endings aren’t messy.
Sometimes… they’re just clear.
Not much ambiguity.
