A short story about the life of an engineer is given below:
Arif is a mechanical engineer. To him, any machine is like a living being. One day, a major disruption occurred at an old power plant in the city. The entire city was on the verge of being plunged into darkness. When experienced engineers came and failed, Arif was called in.

Arif did not rush. He listened to the sounds of the massive turbines for a long time, much like a doctor examines a patient’s chest with a stethoscope. Suddenly, he stopped at a specific valve. He took a small hammer out of his pocket and gently tapped a specific spot. Instantly, the machine roared to life, and the surroundings lit up.
The plant manager, astonished, asked, "Why did it take so much time to just give a tap? Why is the bill so high?"
Arif calmly smiled and replied, "The cost of tapping with the hammer is only 10 taka. But knowing where and how hard to tap is worth the rest of the money. That is engineering."
