Introduction
I want to do something different from now on for #threetunetuesday playlist. I have been doing weekly series on Asian music mostly but now I want to just choose any song that I like and share them here and discuss it. This will mean my series for korean, thai, chinese, japanese, upbeat songs has come to an end.
The songs I choose now will be random and combined together with almost any genre so hopefully there will be a song that can appeal to you. If you haven't figured it out the title is actually the name of all three songs combined that I will be sharing today.
#1. Wherever You Will Go - The Calling
The first song I chose was Wherever You Will Go by The Calling. This song is definitely one of my childhood songs and quite popular at the time. The singer as a super deep voice and I think most people would be able to recognize this song instantly if they heard it before just by the voice.
Honestly, I'm not too sure about the meaning of this song. Based on the lyrics, I believe it's about a guy that broke up with his girlfriend or has cancer or something and knows that he will pass away. He's wondering how she will take care of herself because he was probably taking care of her all this time and I'm basing this on the lyrics "who will be there to take my place when I'm gone you'll need love."
#2. 烏梅子醬 The Dark Plum Sauce - 李榮浩 Ronghao Li
The second song chosen was Dark Plum Sauce by Ronghao Li. This song is a love song if you can't tell. It was also quite popular among people that listened to chinese music when it was released. My favorite part of this song is the chorus because it's super catchy.
This song is about a sweet loving relationship. I think Dark Plum Sauce if I'm not wrong is like a bit sweet but not to sweet which is to describe the type of love. This sauce is also kind of unique so if you think about it like that it's trying to focus on the point that the relationship with the girl is something unique. I don't know this is just what I think but feel free to have your own interpretation as the English translated lyrics are provided in the second video.
#3. 기도(I'll be your man) - BTOB(비투비)
Finally, the last song chosen was I'll Be Your Man by BTOB. This group debuted in 2012 and they are still active. They released their latest song about 3 months ago. Anyways I would still consider this group to be old school K-pop. I love the meaning of the lyrics in the song, the choreography is great and the different paces in the song from slow to fast with the rap.
This song is quite straightforward. The girl left the guy and now he's praying for her to come back to him. He wants to have one more chance and if she gives him this chance he won't let her go again. I think the part "I'll be your man" maybe has to due to the fact that he let her go the first time. This time he will be stronger hence "man" and not be a "weak kid" I guess that's what I'm assuming from the lyrics.
Thank You
If you made it to the end, thank you so much for reading. I hope you liked this new change as I think it will be better going like this going forward. It will hopefully make my TTT posts more fresh and interesting as I did get kind of tired doing the series.
Please don't be afraid to share your three songs every Tuesday! Share the music share the love.
