Well.. Things are a bit pear shaped.
Currently there a 3 different forks floating around that many people seem to be stuck on.
As of writing this post I'm currently on what I believe is the longest and correct fork, Block 1145210 Hash 495cb5cd4dbd266ee0dc3f96c3fa51bf68d12ee20cbaf722d18d40829269cdd9
Gridcoinstats.eu is a long way behind on it's own fork and gridcoin.network has moved onto it's own fork after being correct for some time.
But alas it's not all doom and gloom. As with any fork the network will eventually come to converge on the correct chain.
And due to how Gridcoin rewards GRC if you staked on a fork you'll lose the GRC from your wallet however you will still be owed it as you haven't staked it on the correct chain. So No loss of rewards! Yay.
If you find yourself on a fork, there are a number of things you can do.
- You can leave your wallet running and wait till it finds the correct chain.
- You can force a reorganization of the chain, I'd recommend a read of this post
- You can download the lastest snapshot and slowly work your way back up to the correct chain, However you can again get stuck on a fork.
- Add maxoutboundconnections=#, # being what ever number you feel like, To your Gridcoin config file. This will allow the client to connect to more nodes across the network increasing the likeliness of your wallet finding the correct chain.
16 connections should be more than enough, The default is currently 8.
Additionally you can also increase the total max connections using maxconnections=#, Again # being whatever number you'd like, the default here is 125 so increasing this is not really needed.
ALSO!! Please make sure you are running the latest version of Gridcoin! That being 3.7.4.0!
Go to help>aboutgridcoin to check your version and DO NOT use the built-in updater, it's broken and will only download version 3.6.0.0, Please download directly from gridcoin.us
Those are my tips on dealing with a fork. there are probably some other things you can do, if so feel free to post in the comments.
