Jordan Davis's Home State is not a surprise album. He's been introducing one single after the other since mid-2017. And we knew he had great music in him. Yesterday (March 23rd) Davis's debut album was officially launched and it's available on Spotify now. The 12-song album is sure to be an instant hit. Cutting across ages, this album is what every country music lover was waiting for. Crisp, smart and defines what country music is all about.
Home State has the lyrical essence of old country and musical brilliance of the best contemporary country music. Some of his instant hit singles were Take it from me, Singles You Up that were released last year that did repeats on mainstream radio for long even in Australia.
This Louisanna born singer worked with Paul DiGiovanni for the 12-song collection. There's been a lot of fresh blood music coming out and instantly available on Spotify, but when you stumble upon a well thought out album, you know you got to let people know about it.
Selfish, Sundowners, Selfish, Dreamed You Did they are all going to be country classics without doubt.
Check this one out. IT's called Selfish:
Straight out the bad lanes
I rolled in and rained down
Like a storm cloud or a heat wave
Made you stay undercover where it's safe
Don't give a damn about the plans you made
We're staying in the bed all day...
Cause I'm selfish
Restless like a river, can't help it
I'm taking what you give me but I still want more
I still want more
Cause I'm selfish
Yeah I'm selfish, I'm selfish for you
I'm not a big fan of the second verse and not pasting it here..A bit more cheesier. But the first half of this song is well written and the music blends in miraculously well.
Slow dancing in the parking lot is sure to be a popular anthem. It's a given. Listen to it just once and your with him, tapping your feet.
Last time I got hooked on to an album that bordered some intense romantic lyrics was Chaos and the Calm by James Bay. I'm not comparing these two albums. But Chaos and Calm became popular with all kinds of people. Whether you liked blues, folks, country, pop -- you loved Chaos and the Calm. Home State is an album like that...It will transcend genres and be embraced by all kinds of mindsets.
Jordan Davis is surely a musician you got to watch out for!
Check this one out....It's called Leaving New Orleans. I've been bloody hooked on the strumming..
I'll miss the quarter, the magnolias
And the Pontchartrain
And the french market on a Saturday
I'll miss the feel of this place
I'll miss the bayou sunrise
The Mardi Gras and the second lines
Bourbon jazz, sidewalk kids
With bottlecap taps dancing for tips
