Hi, everyone…
Happy new year 2022!
Hopefully this year everything will be better and better.
It's been more than two weeks since I've been absent from Hive-verse. It's been two hectic weeks, because beside working at home and doing household chores, now my husband and I are also taking care of a kitten. Like parents who have just had a baby. Ha ha…
Yep, there's a new member in our little family in our little house. For the first time, we have a pet! (Obviously I'm new and this is my first post in this community.)
He's the kitten that my husband rescued from heavy rain last December 14th. For those who haven't read it, you can read it in my previous post.
Up to 24 hours after it was found, no owner nor a mother cat was looking for it. I asked neighbors but they also had no clue. We were confused whether we have to take care of it or find someone who wants to adopt it or give it to a pet care center.
There are some reasons why we - especially me - disagree with having cats.
First, subjective reason: I'm not a cat lover. As far as I know the cats are annoying, they'll disturb us when we're eating, destroy furniture with its paws, its fur sticks everywhere, and so on. So I'm not interested in having a cat.
The second reason: our house is small and there is no yard, even the terrace is only half a meter. We live in dense settlements, there is not much air circulation and sunlight, and the water often goes out. In essence, the house is not quite adequate to have a pet.
The third reason: it's about responsibility and costs. Reading several articles about kittens and how to take care of them made me worry about lots of things. Where we have to put it, how we’re gonna feed it, how to clean its crap and urine, what if it got sick, etc.
But seeing that cute innocent face, I gave up. It's true what some people say: it will grow on me. It didn't take long for my heart to melt and fall in love with that kitten.
In the end, we decided to keep it. We'll try our best to provide the best for it. Maybe just temporarily, maybe forever, I don't know. We just try it as long as we can.
We thought maybe the kitten was destined for us to find. Maybe the universe wants us to help and to take care of this helpless little creature. Maybe it came to accompany us who don't have children yet…
And so that's it. Now we have a kitten -- just like that.
Then we're looking for a name for it. At first we thought the kitten was female, so we named it Rainy Sri Rezeki. It means - more or less "a fortune that we found in the rain".
Rainy = comes from “rain”, since we found it in the rain
Sri (Sanskrit) = prosperity
Rezeki (Indonesian) = fortune
After reading several articles about kittens and researching about distinguishing between cats' genitals, we just realized that Rainy is a male cat. But we didn't change the name Rainy because we thought it was a quite unisex name.
So everybody, please welcome, Rainy! The kitten that makes me melt. ❤️
Now Rainy has been with us for more than two weeks. Looks like he grows so fast. I'll tell you more details in another time.
Thank you for reading. Have a nice day!
