Hello, sitting in man cave here smoking a wee bit of that, you know that there. So im thinking about steemit and what it was, what it is now and what will it be in the future. I joined steemit around 18 ago and have watched it go through a crypto bull run which was pretty epic might i add. You remember 9+ STEEM per SBD, good days and activity was booming. Now we are in the hangover part of the crypto cycle and im chilling and HODLing the bit out for 2019.
How many true users?
I've no idea, this is a question so if someone knows, please share. They are currently over 1 million account on steemit but how many people are behind those accounts. I have 4 accounts and access to Precious, i only use 2 of them but how many do you have? There are people out there that create and own hundreds of steemit accounts, they run bots with auto commenting. The bot would auto comment from each account by randomly picking a comment from a list of 20,000 pre written comments, then another bot would upvote each account from each account building up decent returns in both SP and STEEM. I actually like this idea but it's sort of a shitty move to pull. I dont think you would make enough money to justify being part of the problem. So, to get back to point it's almost impossible to really know how many unique users steemit really has. Here is a chart of the amount of daily posts and comments for the past 6 months, the chart is from fantastic daily steemit stats post, check that out.
We can see it has pretty much halved which is not to bad to be honest when you thin what $ STEEM was back then and what it is now. It's also fallen around 20 places of the coinmarketcap rankings. Im not to bothered about ranking cause im a long term sorta guy but that does not stop me from checking the prices.
I honestly think that steemit is a niche platform that will never be used by the masses, it's sorta an ok reddit ripoff. There could be lots of things steemit could add to make the user experience better. Being able to arrange your blog posts would be pretty cool, adding that communities feature that has been talked about for ages would be super cool and a bunch of other stuff like buying STEEM for $ on steemit itself. It also takes to long to create new accounts, by the time they verify, a few people would have forgot about it and not interested anymore. Listen i know F all about how the set up and run a platform such as steemit but there has to be a reason for not adding features.
What do you think about the whole thing?
Do you think steemit will still be a thing in 10-20 years? and how dependent is STEEM on steemit. Would STEEM die if steemit ever did are would it live on? It's hard to judge and guess how much time to should invest into steemit. I say steemit is the retirement fund but i think i'll be on some new shit by then and steemit will be a dodo. I would love to see it last for decades and grow steady along the way but most things have a shelve life. Of course #steemsilvergold will live on through whatever platform we be on doing our thing. I have steemsilvergold.com registered as a backup and we'll make our own steemit with blackjack and hookers.
