I'm a big fan of fractional gold. I have always liked it, and feel with the right purchases it has the capability to give the best rate of return on premiums. What I mean by that is there are many 1/10th pieces selling in the $200 range and not a ton of one ounce pieces selling in the 2k range. Yes, there are premiums on the fractional pieces, but they go on sale frequently, and the more collectible pieces (Perth,RAM etc..) seem to sell cheaper than even the basic gold eagle a good deal of the time. Of course, the reason I like them is not quite that simple, but that is the gist of it.
These particular gold pieces are made by the Royal Canadian Mint and are 99999 pure. Not that there is a huge difference between .999 .9999 and .99999 it's cool and different IMO. They also come in very nice cards and have a changing design. These were a deal between Bay Precious Metals and RCM I believe and the mintage are pretty small. The exact mintage is not know or I haven't found it, but they have two different designs based off the one ounce series. This series started later than the one ounce series and the the once ounce series has many designs now. I'm not sure if the RCM will continue on with these, but I hope they do as I enjoy to pick them up.
Tell me what you think.
