Hello hivers, an happy Monday to you all.
I hope you spent a nice weekend and a good start of a new working week.
Yesterday I went with my hubby to an art exhibition in a museum here in my city (Pistoia, Italy) where we could watch some interesting paintings by the artist Marino Marini (1901-1980). You can read more about the artist here.
Marini was born in Pistoia and, even if when he was an adult he lived in different cities, he was always connected with my city and, whe he died, an entire museum opened to show their artwork here and in Florence too.
Since a couple of years the Marini Museum is closed to work on the building, but the most part of his work was placed in different museums like the one I visited yesterday, called Museum Palazzo Fabroni.
Even if Marini never abandoned painting, his main works are sculptures. Beautiful, large and small, metal scupltures (especially bronze ones). The most famous ones are about an horse and a rider and you can see a couple of them (small ones) in the following pics:
In the past I could watch the larger ones (very large!) in another museum and they were really fantastic, believe me.
Since some months, the Palazzo Fabroni (a beautiful Museum of 20th-century and contemporary art in my city) host a beautiful selection of Marini’s paintings and yesterday there was a guided tour with a friend of us and so we decided to spend our Sunday in the museum.
We watched the most part of these painting before, but it was very interesting to watch them again in a different place and while our friend was talking about them. Of course, I took some pics to share with you, so you can enjoy a sort of "virtual tour" between the artworks by Marino Marini!
There were a lot of different artworks in different rooms of the museum. Every room is about a theme and so I decided to wrote 2 contents about this visit, so I can show you everything better.
At the start there is a room about "the horse and the rider" where there are the 2 small bronze sculptures in the first pics and some paintings about the same theme:
Marino Marini loved to experiment with different techniques and, in the next room, we can see some artwork in a cubism style (the most part of them are oil on canvas and mixed media on canvas and paper):
Anothe theme of the artworks by Marini was the "jugglers" and we can see some of those ones in another, dedicated room:
I know the pictures can't represent the beauty of the paintings and it's difficult to take pics where you can see the way to put colors on the canvas, but it was very interesting for me to watch all of theme so close, believe me.
Soon I'll share with you the second part of the exhibition, with other interesting paintings and small sculptures, stay tuned. ❤️
See ya soon and stay safe,
Silvia
