Good day Steemian welcome to today's Steem price update for 18/1/2019 I have been posting the Steem price update since almost the very beginning of Steemit.com many have came here to discuss the daily Steem prices and changes for just over 2 years now.
I also want to mention just incase your thinking something doesn't seem normal from the other regular Price update posts that the daily Steem price posts do slightly change from time to time.
But regardless of changes we will carry on as usual and by this I mean knowing the price of Steem as its important for your daily plan or strategy and honestly even if you are not planing to do anything with your Steem I still recommend checking out these updates and keeping an eye on the price, so without further ado lets take a look at today's Daily Steem Price Change for 18/1/2019
Should you be trading with Steem today..
We left 2018 with Steem at $0.26 and now we may see Steem fall back down "MUCH LOWER" from this January's high and no not $0.34 that was yesterday but now $0.37! I expected the recent Bitcoin downwaves Bitcoin was at $4075 and fell to $3491, today we seem to still be holding just under the 2nd downwave "line" not great but what's surprising is this seems to be having no effect on Steem as it remains above $0.30? Some say it was the darkoverlord account which got Steem noticed with the recent banning news, regardless Bitcoins highest for today was $3634 yes its slightly higher than yesterday but as now fallen to $3603 its lowest was actually $3587 at ⏰19.45 this could affect Steem but at the moment it seems like the affects will be small. Anyway if your a buyer one of the biggest and best opportunities to buy Steem "might" present its-self in a few weeks time this is due to knowing that Ned as been powering down but so as the Steemit account, PANIC mode ON! Nope don't panic yet. This is important because that account holds around 35 million Steem!! If the powerdown's don't stop in 13 weeks all that Steem will be tokenized meaning the price of Steem will drop. While this means the end of days for some we still don't know what exactly Steem-INC are doing, I don't believe they are running away with the money.. but it seems like they are on a mission to protect it due to some threats. At first it may seem like Steem didn't have much movement going on today but from yesterday's $0.34 it started to go downwards and even more so at ⏰08.20 when Steem reached $0.32 but as we know things changed around with our first upbump taking it back to $0.34 at ⏰09.40. The 2nd upbump happened at ⏰15.00 and Steem reached $0.36 it's where we expected it to stop... but nope it still jumped to $0.37 and we could potentially see $0.38 before the day is over. If nothing much happens in 2019 then I hope those who are in the game will take the opportunity to keep collecting Steem especially if the Steemit account continues to power down over the next weeks. And so at these low prices and with the Steem power-downs we are still on a survival mode era of Steemit.com, Bitcoin dropped drastically forcing Steem's value to tank causing Steem-INC staff reductions a possible threat to the website and the Steemit account security. The conclusion is to cut down the costs of nodes among other strategies. Hivemind is now live they have decreased the "steemd" instance sizes from 488GB RAM to now would you believe 61GB RAM!! There is a focus on a multi index RocksDB adapter which is a new technology in development to allow the Steem blockchain nodes to store almost all it's necessary data to a disk in a modern database instead of RAM, this move will make nodes cheaper. Ned said recently cost reduction work will still continue ahead of SMT's so those who want that will have to wait a little longer. Yesterday SBD's gave us a pleasing result seeing SBD's reach just over$0. 90 and beginning to make its way closer to $1 today with Steem going up it was to no surprise to see it reach $0.92 and honestly we expected it to hit $0.93. SBD's actually fell back to $0.84 just before the day was over yesterday so its good to see a good come-back at ⏰15.00.
