Travel to Bari (Italy 巴里意大利) with me! Holiday Photo-Journal (Ed. 6)

Even though I haven’t posted our Rome getaway yet, I thought I would connect a quick stop over in Bari in South-Eastern Italy, we only stayed for a day and night as we were connecting to Dubrovnik (Croatia) by ship the next evening, but we sourced some great photos and beautiful street food from the local area. We stayed in the Old town “Barivecchia”, it was an extremely beautiful place that made you feel like you were stepping back in time!

Some Information about Bari

Bari is a port city on the Adriatic Sea, and the capital of southern Italy's Puglia region. Its maze-like old town, Barivecchia, occupies a headland between 2 harbours. Surrounded by narrow streets, the 11th-century Basilica di San Nicola, a key pilgrimage Site, holds some of St. Nicholas' remains. To the south, the Murat quarter has stately 19th-century architecture, a promenade and pedestrianised shopping areas.

We spent the day exploring the old town, it was like being on the set of Game of Thrones or something, truely amazing feel. Out of all the old towns we have visited throughout Europe, this was definitely up there with the best!

Later that night we ventured out into the old town centre square to eat , but on the way, we walked around the ocean area to get there.

Is that a food truck in the distance? I am in heaven if it is...

Okay, I am going to ask you a serious question now. Is there anything better than a plastic container full of delicious meats from a food truck looking out onto the lights of the fishing boats in the Adriatic Sea?

OMG! I need to stop salivating, I am so lucky I wrote this post up after eating tonight, otherwise I would have needed to take an interlude and eat!

We are now slap bang in the middle of the old town in Bari - Let's get some Pizza!

Pizza it is , I think it was 1.50 Euro a slice? I can't remember. Margarita mmm! Simple with great flavour

Okay - that's our quick stop over in Bari , Stay tuned for Dubrovnik - where we walked the set of Game of Thrones (shame, shame) and the new Star Wars !
