The Renault Trezor is a concept car with extraordinary, futuristic design.
Doesn't it really look like a piece of technology from the future?
It’s an electronic 2-seater, 4,7m long and only 1m tall!
The most remarkable thing about it?
There are no doors!
Yes, you heard that right.
To enter the car, the roof, panorama top and engine hoop swing upwards, then you step over the 1m carriage and sink into the comfortable seats.
The reason for this extraordinary feature is a better aerodynamic, with a drag coefficient of 0,22.
"The Renault range has now been completely renewed and upgraded with a spectrum of complementary models, each one of which has its own assertive identity. With the Trezor, we have pursued this renewal by introducing a new lifecycle sequence. This concept car is the fruit of a freedom of expression and prepares the way for the trends we are likely to see in our upcoming vehicles. These trends fall into two categories: French Design and Easy Life.“Laurens van den Acker - Renault's Senior Vice-President
Design and Interior
The car is built of Carbon, and has several red elements like the red tinted panorama front shield and red leather seats.
Passengers can enjoy huge leg room because there is no center console.
The rear mirror was converted to a monitor, while the side mirrors are completely gone and have been replaced with cameras!
There is a luggage compartment of the front of the car, which only fits cases that have been specifically made for this.
Once you get in, you can actually place your smartphone in a special compartment - the car will then analyze the phone and can even display some of the phone’s apps on the monitor, which you’ll then be able to use.
The dashboard is made from high-quality red wood, which was created in cooperation with the french company KEIM cycles (which is known for custom, high-performnce cycle frames)
The steering wheel is not traditionally round, but has been designed in a octagonal shape and is located next to a huge touch screen.
The driver can choose between 3 different modi: Neutral, Sport or Autonomous.
While autonomous driving is not legally allowed yet in many parts of the world, Renault has stated that they want to make it accessible and affordable until 2020.
To start the autonomous mode, both passengers need to press a button in the center - 2 fingers from the same person won’t be accepted!
Technical Specs
The Trezor has 350 PS, with a maximum torque of 380 Newtonmeters.
It can go from 0 to 100km/h in less than 4 seconds!
The maximum speed is 200 km/h.
The motor is derived from the racing car Renault e.dams, which won the Formula E world title twice.
The electric car can drive 300 km with one charge, and the battery needs only 2 hours to recharge to 80 percent.
It features two batteries that are placed at the front and back of the car, ensuring an optimal distribution of weight.
It features 21-inch tires at the front and 22-inch tires at the back, and has a weight of 1,6 metric tons.
The concept car was presented at the Motor Show in Paris this year, and while it won’t go into series and be up for individual sale, it’s still a design inspiration that will possibly influence future Renault models.
