In April I went on a girls trip to Sedona, Arizona. It was a fabulous trip filled with friends, food, nature and adventure.
Sedona is a 2 hour drive from Phoenix the capital of Arizona. It is a pleasant drive filled with saguaros and, in April, fields of flowering rapeseeds.
Red Rock Scenic Byway
When you turn off the I17 to 179 you get on the Red Rock Scenic Byway, which is a must do for Sedona. We made 4 stops along the byway- Bell Rock Vista Pullout, Courthouse Vista Pullout, Chapel of the Holy Cross and Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village.

Bell Rock
Bell Rock is an iconic red rock formation that is very prominent along the Red Rock Scenic Byway. We stopped at the pullout on the first day and then the next morning I went back and hiked the Bell Rock Pathway.

Courthouse Butte
Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte are very close together and these pictures are taken from Bell Rock Pullout, my Bell Rock Pathway and Courthouse Pullout
Chapel of the Holy Cross
This stunning architectural gem is a small Roman Catholic Chapel in the red rocks. A great addition to any trip to Sedona.
It has some stunning views of the mountains and city below.

Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village
At the end of the scenic byway is the Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village. I have been to Sedona a few times before and have driven right past this unique village. It really is a must stop and see. The architecture is gorgeous and there are interesting shops and great art all over.

Oak Creek Canyon Drive.
Another great drive in the Sedona area is Oak Creek Canyon Drive. It is where state route 89A heads north to Flafstaff. It has red rocks and trees and beautiful views all along the way.

In addition to beautiful drives there are lots of hikes to explore in Sedona. Hiking is a main tourist attraction and destination for people to go to Sedona.
West Fork Canyon Hike
One of the most popular hikes in Sedona is the West Fork Canyon Hike off the Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Drive. It has water (creeks you have to cross), abandoned buildings, lots of trees (shade!) and rocks everywhere (big and small).

Deadman's Pass Trail
To the north west of uptown Sedona is Deadman's pass trail. We went at sunset and it was gorgeous.
Raven Cave's Hike
The last hike that we went on was the Raven Caves Trail Hike. It was so fun. I liked going in the caves and down to the creek. We sat and listened to the water in the creek and talked for about an hour.

Other things to do and see in Sedona. Shop and eat gelato in uptown, The Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park, and fishing
Uptown
We stopped in uptown to get gelato before our hike.
The Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park
This is a unique and interesting Buddhist park north west of uptown. I enjoyed walking around, learning and the peaceful feeling here.

We also got a great Airbnb while in Sedona that even had a secret room.
