We visited the grassfed farm again and saw loads of their free range chickens for this #featheredfriday
We first saw this loner sitting by itself in the shade apart from the main group.
Another loner was a bit henpecked. It seems most chicken flocks have an outsider that gets picked on for some reason.
This one's pupil is dilated, perhaps this is one of the bullies.
This one is watching out as the rest are eating stuff from underneath the evergreen tree.
They are allowed to roam free under the trees looking for insects and whatever they can get.
Others are doing their dust baths. This farm rotates them around to different pastures so one place won't get too pooped up and too dust pitted.
They also have the option to hide out in these mobile coops where they can get water and hide out from the sun or rain.
The farmers rigged up some pipes to pour their feed in should they not be able to find enough grasshoppers to eat.
Here they are rushing the coop as the farmer comes to clean it. I suspect they thing he has better food.
Here is a smaller coop with some bantams in it. Probably just for a hobby, not too large for meat and their eggs are small.
Its fun seeing the various critters at this farm and knowing where our food comes from. That's all for now thanks for looking :-)
