Fast Food vs Home Cooked
We all can agree that food is a means of survival and that our body uses it as fuel for daily functioning. Our desired taste for foods are shaped and stimulated according to our culture we best associate with.
Today's families have steered from that old tradition of home cooked meals where the family seen sharing a dinner together as a family bonding time. With everything constantly moving at a fast pace, the whole concept of convenience has taking eating habits to new heights.
Most parents are typically working 40 plus hours a week to provide for their family. So often times it is easier to just stop by a fast food place and pick up dinner rather than cooking one. This approach is used as a quick fix and family's still sit around the dinner table but it's with bought food.
We all know it's time consuming to prepare a decent cooked meal, we can also agree that cooking at home is cheaper.
The advantage of cooking at home:
- You save money on food expenses
- It's healthier than most fast food restaurants.

I was a big spender at fast food places, especially breakfast and lunch during the work week. On average I would spend $5.43 a day at chic fil a on a number 1 with an Oj. Then I would average another $7.50 on lunch. That's $12.93 a day times 5 days. That totals $64.65 a week which in a month is $258.60.
After breaking down the numbers like this, I began to think of ways to cut my food expenses. So I started going to Krogers on mondays and purchased a loaf of bread, fresh sliced turkey breast lunch meat, sliced cheese, 2 cans of pringles, 5 power aids, and a box of pies for dessert. I would only spend $20 to $25 bucks and it would last me the whole week.
Doing this, it allowed me to see where I was actually pudding all my money away on convenient foods. Although I knew it already, I concluded that it was cheaper to go grocery shopping versus eating out all the time.
