We all like to complain about education but not all quite know exactly where to take it. Here is a good starting point - some food for thought.
In this 20-minute long talk, Ken Robinson says everything most parents probably want to say to their kids’ teachers and school principals. This video is funny and serious at the same time, and you’ll both laugh and cry when it ends. If you need something truly inspirational today, especially from the field of education, this is it!
If you don’t know, Ken Robinson is a well-known figure in education, a proponent of change and move towards education that provides equal attention to arts, humanities and science. He is also outspoken on the issues of creativity and how it is promoted in schools (or rather, unpromoted). While his claims may sound as inspirational as cheesy, there is evidence from psychology that creativity and intelligence (specifically, fluid intelligence) are correlated concepts, so you can take Ken Robinson’s words as a clever simplification of what has really been going on behind the scene in the research community. The purpose of this talk was not to present figures from a study but to incite people and excite them about a better cause. You absolutely must see it, even if only for the jokes he makes!
SteemIt, folks!
