Welcome to the latest edition of the SoCal Steemit Visiting Hour post!

Every tuesday at 8pm Hive account@socalsteemit is doing a weekly voice and text chat for the members in our Discord server! Here we'll be giving a short summary of our previous chat and bring up potential topics for the next upcoming chat.

Last Nights Visiting Hour

In the last SoCal Visiting Hour Hive account@alaqrab and myself(Hive account@derekrichardson) had a great conversation! We started off by talking about the holidays. Neither of us really got to enjoy them. I had one of my dogs get sick and die. And it's been pretty tough for me emotionally. Hive account@alaqrab had to work overtime and didn't get to spend Chrismas or New Years with his family. We hope the rest of our SoCal Steemit family had happier holidays.

Then we talked about Hive account@alaqrab's post from our backpacking trip at Big Sur which got some real nice upvotes including Hive account@curie and a few other curation trails! We had a blast on that trip and it was fun to get to reminisce a bit.

After that I brought up Bit.Tube. I had just started looking into it while I was waiting for someone to join the chat so I didn't know much but we both looked into it a bit. Basically it's a Youtube alternative like DTube but it uses it's own currency which is currently worth just over .03 USD. There are other Steemians on it already posting videos and making money, so if you produce video content it might be something you are interested in looking at.

Next we discussed the Proof of Keys movement and the annual January 3rd celebration of the genesis block. The idea is that every January 3rd people will pull all their crypto off of any exchanges and into their own private wallets in order to try to keep the exchanges honest. We talked a bit about the possible consequences both good and bad. But ultimately we both think it is a good thing. If you are interested be sure to check out the website for more info.

We finished up the chat as Hive account@alaqrab finished off cooking some rice in his Instant Pot. We talked about the Instant Pot and about his new years resolution to try to eat healthier... at least for a little while. I made no such resolutions, and although I do try to eat semi healthy, last night I ate pizza for dinner. Not gonna lie.

Next Tuesday

In next Tuesdays SoCal Visiting Hour we'd like to talk about scheduling some meetups for January and February! It's been WAY to long since the last meetup so lets make some plans so we can get together and have some fun! We also want to go over and re-evaluate the current projects of Hive account@socalsteemit and discuss what is sustainable and what is not and what changes we'd like to make going forward in the new year. And as always we welcome anything else any members would like to bring up and discuss! So again, it's tuesday at 8pm in the SoCal Steemit Discord server. If you are not equipped to voice chat or are a bit intimidated to get on a mic, feel free to come listen to the chat and communicate with the group through the corresponding text channel. We'd love to have everyone come join the conversation!!
