Welcome to the latest edition of the SoCal Steemit Visiting Hour post!

Every tuesday at 8pm Hive account@socalsteemit is doing a weekly voice and text chat for the members in our Discord server! Here we'll be giving a short summary of our previous chat and bring up potential topics for the next upcoming chat.

Last Nights Visiting Hour

In the last SoCal Visiting Hour we had Hive account@torrey.blog, Hive account@fitinfun, Hive account@mariannewest, Hive account@bxlphabet, and myself (Hive account@derekrichardson) all join in the conversation!

First I talked to Hive account@torrey.blog in the text chat and he told me about being excited to run the LA marathon this Sunday! He's going to try to run the 26.2 miles in only 5 and a half hours!

Then Hive account@fitinfun came on and she gave me a few ideas to help grow the SoCal Steemit community like sharing our posts on Twitter and using Share2Steem. I personally am not a Twitterer, I personally think it's a horrible social media site, but I plan to try to be active sharing our stuff there. Next Hive account@mariannewest joined us and Hive account@fitinfun told us all about the Hive account@tasteem app
which is a really neat restaurant review app for the Steem blockchain. And they are giving out nice upvotes to people that post using their app so next time you eat out you might want to try using Hive account@tasteem!

Then we were joined by Hive account@bxlphabet and we talked about how him and myself are going to be working at the local single A baseball park here in San Bernardino this summer. The Inland Empire 66ers! I'm hoping to plan another SoCal Steemit meetup there again this summer because last year when we did it I think everyone had a lot of fun!

We also talked about Hive account@bxlphabet and myself trying to participate in Hive account@mariannewest's Hive account@freewritehouse initiative. We both want to give it a try. Unfortunately I seem to barely have enough time to get my regular posts done, but we'll see what I can do and hopefully I'll find the time and do some free writing!

And lastly we talked about the meetup Hive account@mariannewest is hosting at the Seaport Village in San Diego this Saturday! Although I am having vehicle problems I'm going to try my best to find a way to get there. We have a guest Steemian Hive account@jeanlucsr who is visiting SoCal all the way from Suriname! Stay tuned to Hive account@mariannewest's blog as I think she will be writing a post soon with more details aabout the time and location of the meetup.

Next Tuesday

In next Tuesdays SoCal Visiting Hour we'd like to talk about having SoCal Steemit members write a "guest post" on the Hive account@socalsteemit blog each saturday. The guest post could be about whatever that member is interested in writing about. And we could reward the guest author with SBI. If you're interested in this idea lets chat about it next week and work out the details. I can write a "guest post" template to make it easy if we want. Also to keep it easy the post could be written anytime during the week and then we can schedule it to post on Saturday. Also if anyone has any fun ideas for future meetups I'd love to hear them! And as usual we welcome anything else any members would like to bring up and discuss! So again, it's tuesday at 8pm in the SoCal Steemit Discord server. If you are not equipped to voice chat or are a bit intimidated to get on a mic, feel free to come listen to the chat and communicate with the group through the corresponding text channel. We'd love to have everyone come join the conversation!!
