Welcome to the latest edition of the SoCal Steemit Visiting Hour post!

Every tuesday at 8pm Hive account@socalsteemit is doing a weekly voice and text chat for the members in our Discord server! Here we'll be giving a short summary of our previous chat and bring up potential topics for the next upcoming chat.

Last Nights Visiting Hour

In our last SoCal Visiting Hour we had myself (Hive account@derekrichardson), Hive account@mariannewest, Hive account@csusbgeochem1, and Hive account@mattlovell join in the conversation! Although not all at the same time. Marianne and I were on time at 8pm and we discussed the new delegation that I purchased for the community account. We talked about the contest entries we received for the first 'Show us your California' contest last week. We didn't get a ton of entries, but the ones we got were great! And the contest will be starting again tomorrow so definitely be sure to go check it out and show us YOUR California!

We also talked about Vimm TV the new live streaming app for the Steem blockchain, and possible ways for us to use it. We talked about possibly using it to live stream our Visiting Hour chats to help bring attention to it and get people excited about participating. We also discussed possibly changing the time and/or date of the Visiting Hour if there was a time that was better for more members to be able to attend. So if you have a preferred time/date for the Visiting Hour we'd love to get the input!

Then Marianne brought up the idea of joining Hive account@qurator. I had heard about it, but was unfamiliar with the details. She gave me all the basic info about it and we agreed it was a good idea. If you'd like to read more about it you can find more info here and here. We also talked about using Hive account@thundercurator, but it doesn't seem to be as profitable as it once was, so I don't think we're going to use it at this time.

Then we discussed starting the new 'SoCal Steemian of the Week' promotion this Monday! So each week we'll be choosing one of our active members to be our 'Steemian of the Week' and they will receive full 100% upvotes and resteems for every single post they make during that week! We also discussed trying to start doing another contest or promotion on fridays. We thought about doing some type of a food contest that could coincide with the foodfightfridays contest. We didn't get it totally figured out, but just knew we really wanted something for fridays.

Marianne and I wrapped up our conversation talking about Steem winning the Netcoins listing conference!! We hope this will be a really good thing for Steemit. Then just as Marianne left the chat, Hive account@csusbgeochem1 showed up to chat! So, I got him all caught up on everything Marianne and I had been discussing. We talked about him possibly heading up the friday posts. And although he didn't seem excited about the food contest idea, he had another idea that I thought was really good... "SoCal Mystery Photo Fridays"! It will basically be an easy contest where we'll post a photo of a place or thing here in SoCal and people can guess where or what the photo is in the comments. And the Steemian who guesses correct first will win 2SBI! This contest should be lots of fun and really easy for everyone to participate. So be sure to look for that starting this Friday!

Hive account@csusbgeochem1 and I wrapped up our conversation with a little small talk, and just as he left the chat I was joined by Hive account@mattlovell! So instead of one big group chat we had three one on one conversations! Which of course wasn't the plan, but it was great talking to each of them! Matt and I mostly talked about him and Hive account@creationofcare's upcoming canoeing/fishing/hot springs trip on the Colorado river next week! It sounds like it's gonna be a ton of fun. I can't wait to see their posts from the trip!

In next Tuesdays SoCal visiting hour we'd like to have members bring one of their recent posts to share in the chat! We'd love to have you come tell your fellow SoCal Steemians all about your post.
