She will take any part of the sunlight she wants, unless its the dogs space. Tesla enjoys getting pet in the sun, and stretches out and kneads with her claws she I think she enjoys it.

As the sun moves she will sprawl out in the direction of travel to get the most sunlight as possible. Sometimes we put catnip on the mats and she will lay on top of those mats we cover it with.
She does not always get full sunlight but seems okay with that as she knows the clouds will move out of the way to reveal the sun shortly. After hours of sun bathing she will move into her cat tunnel or lay in the other room to cool off.
