Hello Steemers! I'm , a 35 years old mum from Japan, and a diet consultant.
I gained 14kg during my pregnancy, but I lost all that in three months after giving birth.
When my baby boy was just born, he only weighed 2980g. That's just about 3kg. Hold on. I gained 14 kilos. It shocked me because all the rest of what I gained during the nine months, I was in fact packing on myself! All these time I thought I was eating for two so that I had to eat more more more as a resposible mummy-to-be. Actually, Mummy was taking up the most nutrients and being well nourished, and gaining like 11kg. Oh dear. What was I thinking, ordering a butter chicken with 2 huge pieces of cheesy nan every lunch time???? My old excuse saying "oh the baby is craving for the buttery Indian curry" sounds like a big fat lie now.
I'm a diet coach. Can't afford to be fat.
Neverthless, as it happened, it wasn't so hard to lose weight after pregnancy for me. I looked like the baby never happened in just 3 months. Ha! I've told you I'm a diet coach. Phew.
Yes, I know all these celebrities getting back in their size 0 jeans a few days after having a baby. It may sounds like an ideal situation, but for your body-sake it's better to take it slower. After all, giving birth is such a big burden to any mother's body. Excessive exercise and dietary restriction are not recommended, especially when you are breast-feeding. In fact, I didn't do much of excercising for a couple of months after giving birth. Maybe just a bit of yoga but mostly I was so busy nursing the new-born. I just watched what I ate. I liked to have traditional Japanese foods mainly. I'm not talking about sushi and tempura here, as these are rather high in calories. We have healthier options, such as a complete meal consisting of a modest portion of grilled fish, mixed vegetables stir-fry, one bowl of rice, and soup with tofu, for example. I believe that having a balanced diet is the key to shape up while healing from the terrible postpartum fatigue. I focused on having balanced meals everyday, and on top of that I ate plenty of fruits and veggies.
I will be following up with many ideas that helped me losing my weight after pregnancy, including healthy yet delicious food recipes and easy workouts.
