We understand that most people who come to Mexico aren't excited to go and fill 4 bags of trash from a beach while in Mexico. But, when living an RV life, we are able to spend more time at places such as these and thus do a little bit more!
This is a quaint little beach across from our RV park in San Carlos, Mexico and upon arriving and being so thrilled to finally be in Mexico, we were a bit upset with all the garbage around. We don't love Mexico any less for it, but since we had the time, we thought what an AMAZING way to give back. Not to mention, with our 5 & 7 year old boys, it was a great educational lesson all around!
This beach is about 400 Meters long and about 25 meters deep, so it was quite the project! And we know it isn't the last time we do this! I have actually always thought that it's too bad our countries can't have a worldwide Garbage Day where everyone just picks up 2 pieces of garbage...can you image what our world would look like! Then go spend the rest of the day off with friends and family NOT working! I personally think it would be great!
So LET'S HAVE GARBAGE DAY, WORLD!
But, instead my family picked up about 1,000 pieces of trash and LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE WE MADE!
So in case you are wondering what we found most on the beach...here you go...
-Disposable spoons who knows how old...cause they don't break down
-Plastic Shopping bags that fall apart (we hated trying to pick these up!)
-Tin cans
-Cigarette butts
-Glass broken bottles
-Cloth Gloves
-Tons of Fishing Line and Nets
-Plastic bottles
-Fabric
-Rusted Bottle Caps
-Wrappers of all kind
-Dog Poop
-Tires
-Bouys
-Metal plates
-Styrofoam
-Did I mention NETS? OMG!
-Wood
-Cardboard
-Rusted metal
-Wiring
and so much more we honestly can't remember!
This was all amongst the dead dried out fish with teeth we saw, incredibly light bird bones, a dried up Puffer Fish and the GORGEOUS Shells and Rocks and bystanders watching us work thanking us for doing what we are doing!
All of a sudden all the birds seemed SO much happier and more beautiful than before! I think the truly appreciated our work! (A Male Pelican waiting for mating season to start!)
This isn't the first time we have picked up trash...it's sad, but if we love our life Rving and when we arrive at a "trashy" place such as BLM land or Walmarts, its just a given to get out and make it nice!
So, please, if you can, make the time to go to a place that makes you sad to look at with all the trash lying around and grab some gloves and a garbage bag...you'll be so glad you did it!!
