The purpose of this proposal is to both disclose a critical bug that was discovered in the SPS Validator Software by user and to also request that the SPS DAO pay a bounty for the responsible disclosure of this bug. The bug was reported within minutes, patched within 30 minutes and a full scan of the entire database verified that the bug was not previously utilized to steal funds.
We've had multiple developers run further security evaluations and scans of the Validator software and are currently exploring options for additional security checkups. Security is a top priority for any blockchain project and we're extremely grateful to Louis for promptly disclosing this issue and helping to secure the network. Due to the severity and nature of this bug as well as the responsible disclosure of the bug, myself (clayboyn) and many others that I've spoken to all agree that this warrants a substantial bug bounty.
Proposal
If this proposal passes, the SPS DAO will make a one time payment of 5,000 HBD to the HIVE account for the prompt and responsible disclosure of a critical zero day exploit of the SPS Validator software.
