First, we have to ask ourselves what the center of every government is? It can be summed up as the so called Governance.
The definition of Governance is defined on Wikipedia as:
Governance comprises all of the processes of governing - whether undertaken by the government of a state, by a market or by a network - over a social system (family, tribe, formal or informal organization, a territory or across territories) and whether through the laws, norms, power or language of an organized society.
The definitions says it everything
A Blockchain is the so called governing system which we all use and trust. It combines all components necessary for this:
- Processes of governing
- Social System
- Laws, norms etc.
Process of governing
This is the heart of every blockchain, the governing part is the blockchain protocol defining the rules which is followed decentrally. There is no need for a police or other central authority, because everyone participating in this network has no choice.
Social system
As said, people participating with a blockchain have to follow its rules and are automatically its social system. Funnily enough, the blockchain infrastructure is the „territory“ in our definition up there and cross chain swaps are the social systems across territories.
Laws, norms etc.
Well, that’s basically the smart contracts on a blockchain that people can create for the governing network we chose - the blockchain -, with the people using the same blockchain - our social system - and finally the norms and laws we as a community can form.

What this means for us?
Now, this shows us that we have to actively choose our blockchain (e.g. Steemit) which comes with a social system and existing laws/norms.
This has a philosophical and almost political component, we cannot continue by chasing the next big project and shilling coin.
Rather we should really decide which blockchain will have the best options from a technological and governing point of view and the best social system which will ultimately result in amazing norms and laws.
