This building has divided opinion since it was built in 1955. Some people love the striking and imposing Stalinist architecture, and see it as an important historical landmark that adds character to an otherwise boring mess of glass skyscrapers in the Warsaw downtown.
Others hate it , as it although it was given as a 'gift' to the people of Poland by the USSR, it serves as a reminder of the Soviet occupation and oppression.
