Getting close to a Spotted Sandpiper has proven to be very difficult. Every time I push my luck, off she goes :( They seem to be quite sensitive, so I learned to keep a respectful distance :) Because they move quite fast, zooming in too close can make for some bad video too, so our arrangement worked out quite well :)
In this video, the sandpiper slips on a rock and recovers nicely with a rapid flapping of the wings, which was a nice little show :) She then went rock hopping to eat some insects and I followed her along for the ride. I love how the Spotted Sandpiper bobs its butt up and down, in a rythmic fashion :) Always on the move!
This video was captured at Ceperley Meadow in Stanley Park, Vancouver BC, Canada.
