I want to share with you one of my adventures in the Italian region called Abruzzo
Being a Videomaker / Photographer by profession I enjoyed the pleasure of taking some photos during my trip in particular in two exceptional locations.
First of all for those unfamiliar with the Castle of Rocca Calascio in the hamlet of Rocca Calascio, in the municipality of Calascio, at an altitude of 1 460 m
An ancient castle from around 1200, a tourist destination coveted all over the world, which brings with it a wagon of ancient stories that have seen it protagonist over the centuries.
Protagonist even in our times of the shooting of a very famous film that has become a cult, entitled LADYHAWKE which I absolutely recommend watching.
Once you reach the top, what you will see remains a unique landscape, there are few places in Italy that offer such emotions, and you will be amazed at how many people from all over the world you will meet during your journey.
I don't want to spoil the surprise by telling you more, but under the slopes of the castle know that there is an ancient village where you can eat Abruzzo specialties that you will always carry in your heart.
At a distance not too high there is another truly unique place of its kind, the Hermitage of San Bartolomeo in Legio.
Besides telling you that it was dug by hand in 1200 inside a mountain and that it was the home of the future Pope Celestine V, I can only show you some images, which will make you understand how useless words are in such a place as soon as you see even only the Entrance.
In the complete silence of nature, immersed in a sort of small canyon, you can see a drawing inside the mountain, a unique work of art that demonstrates how much the human being is able to create, without the need for any technology, with an author a single person named Pietro Morrone.
There are not many words suitable to describe the works of art scattered throughout Abruzzo, even in this case they lose value in front of the images, which leave you dreaming and smiling, reminding you how many almost forgotten places exist in our country, places timeless, immutable in the eyes of a single life, but which have lived more stories than a book.
Finally I can only give you a suggestion, when night falls and everything seems to disappear in the darkness, raise your eyes to the sky, you will realize that the journey into this beautiful region will end only when you decide to go back to where you came from.
The choice is yours alone!
