Introducing #SteemGirls: A Network to make more girls familiar with cryptocurrency + The first SteemGirls Story of Zerrin and her trip to Mali!
My name is Zerrin, I am turkish but living in Hamburg, Germany.
This should work as a verification, right? ;)
I recently turned 26, and celebrated my birthday a few days ago with my family.
I have 4 siblings (all sisters!) so as you can imagine, there was never a quiet or boring moment in my childhood!
I grew up under modest conditions, my parents didn’t have a lot of money but they still worked very hard to provide the best possible life for me and my sisters, and I am very grateful for that.
I always had fun dancing as a kid, so when I was a Teenager I went to a free Hip Hop Dance class for socially disadvantaged kids, taught by Winchester ( ) and we became friends.
After finishing school, I tried many different Jobs, and found my profession in the gastronomy industry.
My dream would be to open up my own restaurant one day!
I'm also a Make-Up Artist and model, but just as a Hobby.
I have always been someone who is very concerned about others. I love helping people and making them smile. That’s why I love holidays like Christmas – seeing other people opening presents and being happy is the biggest gift for me! I’m one of those people that would share even my last 5 Euros. Like I said I never had a lot of money in my life, but for me, seeing other people happy is worth more than anything else.
So this year, I had the opportunity to visit Bamako (Mali, West Africa).
It was really an experience of a lifetime!
I was there for about 2 weeks to help out at a school, take care of the smaller kids, help prepare food for the kids, support them with learning English etc.
I have never felt so fulfilled when doing something in my life!
Because of my appearance, I was like an attraction once I walked down the streets. All the kids wanted to hold my hands permanently – I believe I had about 1 kid holding each of my fingers!
It was so rewarding seeing their smiles, and although I may have helped only a little, I would love to do something like this again.
These kids had almost nothing, no toys no technology, most of them lived in slums and didn’t have access to clean drinking water, but still they were so incredibly happy!
It makes me think about all those kids in western culture, growing up with iPads and TV’s, and they complain about doing their homework. These kids see education as their chance and love going to school!
Well, currently I am back in Germany, working my day job as a Restaurant.
I would absolutely love to go back or do something like this again, to travel to a foreign place (which was really like a whole other world to me) and help those people who are less fortunate than us.
I have heard about cryptocurrency and Steemit from , and although I don’t know a lot about it yet and I’m still a Rookie, I’m very interested in the concept behind it.
I think the steemit community is very supportive and can probably help me to learn more about it, and I’ll definitely create my own account as well and see where it goes.
Cryptocurrency is a male-dominated industry.
And I think that should change – especially now with Steemit, a Social Media Platform where everyone can be involved!
Hi Steemers, this is me, writing now!
To support Steemit, it’s important for us not only to post content, but also to spread the message and introduce new people to the platform. Cryptocurrency is something revolutionary and has an enormous potential in my opinion. The price of Steem and the movement won’t grow if we don’t support the creators all the others of the Team! and do our part to help Steemit gain popularity!
That’s why I have decided to create this new network: SteemGirls!
I have built a female team that’s very informed about cryptocurrency and steemit.
They will interview female friends, acquaintances but also strangers and write about their life story on this Blog. The interviewed person receives 50% of the rewards that the Blogpost has earned. A proof of this will be posted on steemit later.
In return, we will explain the concept of cryptocurrency and steemit to them, help them set up their own account, and hopefully make them passionate about cryptocurrency and make them spread the word about it even more!
This was the very first story for #SteemGirls, stay tuned there is much more to come!
