Hello everyone! What an awesome start to our Parent Contest Week 1! We had a lot of wonderful entries each sharing deeply about their greatest fear of being a parent. It was really tough to choose the winners and we wanted to award everyone the prize money, unfortunately, we can't! So we read through all the entries and choose the ones that really dug deep within themselves and bared their soul to share their greatest fear about being a parent. (It's hard to admit our fear and weaknesses. Even harder to write and let the whole world read about something that is deemed to be a possible failure.) Thank you to all who participated! It's was awesome that we also got a father who participated! We really appreciate it and thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts! So let's get on with announcing who the winners are for Week 1!
The Winners
1st Prize (5 SBI)
Steemitmamas Parent Contest: My greatest fear as a parent by
My greatest fear as a mother is I am afraid that I am not good enough, I have not done enough to be a good role model for my girls. There are many things that I know I should and I could do better. I could manage my temper better. I could manage my time better to be with them. I could be more patience to listen to what they have to say.
I think that the feeling of not being good enough as parent haunts us all from the time that our children are born! Thanks, for sharing that deep deep fear that is universal! As the first prize winner and a Steemitmama (part of our discord server) you get an additional 5SBI!
2nd Prize (3 SBI)
The fears I hold inside around parenthood aren't easy to explain. Well, not for me. They are well hidden behind my confident smile. They are suppressed, and I don't feel at all comfortable facing them right now.
This is a very personal fear and one that goes to the heart of me. Yes, I am a mother. Yes, I have two daughters. But sometimes...
...I don't know what it is to be a mother.
The other thing I hadn't counted on was the loss of self I would experience in my first year of motherhood. I spoke of myself in the third person.
"Look what mummy is doing for you." Always... Mummy not I.
There is a saying that knowledge is power but what if you don't know what you DON'T KNOW?!! Indeed the loss of self is pretty evident...since my son starting going to pre-school, people call me not by my name but "Chapati's Mummy" Sigh...
3rd Prize (2 SBI)
I am almost a fearless human being as general, except when stand in front of crowd to perform, I become nervous. Fearless has long gone once I become a mother. Because love supercedes fear. I don't really feel fearful per se, but I have my fair share of worries and concern.
Waking up everyday to care for another human being who is fully dependant on you takes a lot of courage and strenght!
Additional Surprise Special Mentions
I really enjoyed reading all the other entries and decided to add to the prize pool and reward each of the following entries with 1SBI each

As the moderators of the Steemitmamas discord were judges and could not be considered for a prize, I decided on my own to give away 2 two special mentions to the moderators who also shared their greatest fear which I thought was a great read and will also award 1SBI to each of them.
