A new week of a College Football kicks off on Friday night when the #11 Oklahoma State Cowboys travel to face the South Alabama Jaguars. Although the Cowboys are 28.5 point favorites, there is some talent on the Jaguars and they are no stranger to playing a tough non-conference schedule. The over under is 67 so there should be plenty of scoring. The game can be seen on ESPN2 at 8pm Eastern Standard Time.
What to watch when Oklahoma State has the ball:
Star quarterback, Mason Rudolph, got his season started with a bang last week. He completed an amazing 20/24 pass attempts for 303 yards. Rudolph also threw 3 touchdowns as the offense put up 59 points. James Washington was his favorite target with 6 catches for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns. Their running game was also strong as Justice Hill ran for over 130 yards.
Look for more of the same this week against the Jaguar defense. Oklahoma State’s offense looked like a well oiled machine last week and this week will be no different. The Jaguars were not able to slow down or stop a much less talented Ole Miss offense. And they won't be able to slow down these Cowboys. It would not be surprising to see the Oklahoma State offense go over the 50 point total again this week.
What to watch when South Alabama has the ball:
The Jaguars did have some good offense success last week. Quarterback Cole Garvin lead the offense to 27 points against an SEC defense. He completed 19/31 pass attempts for 204 yards and 1 touchdown. The running game was good too. They were able to gain 170 yards on the ground against Ole Miss.
If Garvin can take care of the ball as he did last week and doesn't throw any interceptions, then the Jaguars can stay in this game. Well, at least for a little while. They will need their running game to be fantastic to keep the time of possession battle in their favor. Garvin will need to make some big plays in the air too that turn into touchdowns and keep the crowd engaged.
As far as a betting angle goes for tomorrow night, I think both offenses have good nights. The over 67 is the recommendation. Oklahoma State Head Coach, Mike Gundy, will not take his foot off the gas. He has a legitimate shot at the college football playoff and as they sit outside the top 10, they need to put up gaudy numbers each week. Good luck!
