There is one big game in college basketball tonight and it is a MUST WIN for the road team. The Oklahoma Sooners play at the Kansas Jayhawks. The game tips off at 8pm Central Standard Time and can be seen on National Television on ESPN. It will take place at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence. The Jayhawks are favored by 8.5 points and the over/under is 166.5.
It was a great week for Kansas as they went 2-0 including a nice home win over West Virginia on Saturday when they won 77-69. Sophomore Udoka Azubuike led the way with 21 points on 7-8 shooting from the field. He has made 16 of his last 18 shots and is on fire. Devonte’ Graham added 15 points and played all 40 minutes for the 9th straight game. And that leads into the biggest weakness for the Jayhawks. They are only playing a 7 man rotation and that could spell doom for them as they get into the post season. Their lack of depth is a huge concern.
The Oklahoma Sooners are in an absolute free fall. They have now lost 5 straight games and have only won twice in their last ten. They are sure to fall out of the Top 25 when the new rankings come out later today and are on life support for making the NCAA Tournament. They are in a MUST WIN situation tonight at Kansas and that will not be easy. Allen Fieldhouse is one of the toughest places to play in all of sports. Freshman guard Trae Young will have to breakout of his shooting slump and put up 40+ points if they want to have a chance tonight. They will have 3 games left in the regular season and the good news is that they are all very winnable. Home vs Kansas State and Iowa State should be victories and then they play on the road against an unranked Baylor team.
The action tonight should be fast and furious. The over/under is the highest on the board today so they experts in Las Vegas are expecting plenty of scoring. The crowd will be out in full force and the fieldhouse will be rocking. Can the Sooners stop the bleeding and get a season saving win? Or will all hope be lost?
