There can only be one in each sport. In the NBA, it is Michael Jordan. In the NHL, it is Wayne Gretzky. In the MLB, it is Babe Ruth. AND IN THE NFL IT IS TOM BRADY!
The 40 year old New England Patriots quarterback is headed back to yet another Super Bowl in 13 days. The 6’4 and 225 pound QB has had a historic career since he was drafted in the 6th round out of the University of Michigan. There were 198 other players drafted ahead him that year, including dozens of quarterbacks. The way that Brady slipped through the cracks will be studied and looked at for years by NFL front office people as well as the so called draft experts on ESPN.
Most players in the NFL have been retired for several years by the time they reach 40, but not Tom Brady. In fact, he has stated publicly that he plans on playing for a few more years at least. He takes incredible care of his body and eats the most healthy and well planned diet in the league. And it shows as he continues to play at an MVP level.
Tom Brady has won 5 Super Bowls so far and this one will likely be his 6th. The Patriots will be heavy favorites when they line up against the Philadelphia Eagles on February 4th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Brady has won 4 Super Bowl MVP’s out of his 5 wins. He has been named the NFL MVP twice, in 2007 and 2010. He has been voted to the Pro Bowl 13x.
His stats speak for themselves. Brady has over 5,600 completions for over 66,000 yards. His completion percentage is 63.9%. He has thrown nearly 500 touchdowns and only 160 interceptions. His passer rating is 97.6. No one has won more games at quarterback than him in the regular season and the playoffs. His list of accomplishments are too long to list.
So why would Tom Brady even consider retirement after this Super Bowl? He shouldn’t. And I don’t think he will. He is still one of the best players in the NFL and there are ZERO signs of him slowing down. Regardless of what happens in Minnesota, Tom Brady has already cemented the title of the G.O.A.T.
Tom Brady is undoubtedly the Greatest of All Time.
