Description from Strava:
Yesterday was really hot and that looks like continuing all week. I was marshalling at parkrun yesterday and I could could see that people were feeling the heat even at 9am. I wanted to get out fairly early this morning when it might be a little cooler. I ended getting up about 7:30.
I wanted a long and easy run so decided to head up to Langford as I though the route would have some shade. I ran around part of the parkrun course to get away from the road. Then it was past the grand Henlow Grange that is now a health spa. I have never been, but others in the family have and one of the kids worked there.
From there I could pick up the trail past the lakes up to Langford. It is nice an quiet there with just a few people out and about. There were geese on the lake. At Langford I followed the road for a short while across the river before picking up another farm track. That one is very exposed, but the sun had yet to get to full strength.
I went through Clifton to the duck pond and then along the road to Henlow. The chapel there had some knitted toppers on the gate posts. I took the footpath across a field back to the parkrun, but then decided to go up over the road bridge, which is a bit of a climb. Then it was back past the station and through the village to get back for some breakfast.
I had my Garmin watch showing my heart rate and tried to keep it in zone two. That means under 140bpm for me, but it kept going just over. I did not do too badly as it was only just going into zone three and I did not stray higher than that.
The pace was very easy for me, but I was not worrying about that too much.
We did some gardening yesterday and will do more today, but are taking it steady in the heat. I plan to get in the pool today to cool off.
Have a great day and run free.
