I think I can say I like a variety of music. I got into prog and what might be considered 'more serious' rock in my teens, but a lot of this was pretty mainstream. One of the bands I got into were Dire Straits who managed to become one of the biggest bands in the world. The Brothers in Arms album really made them big with songs like Money for Nothing. It's got a lot of good music on it, but I'm going with the title track today. Mark Knopfler was into writing film soundtracks like Local Hero and this shows some of that with 'strings' (probably synthetic). I saw them live at the Birmingham NEC in 1985 when they toured this album and I think they put on a good show.
Around this time CD came on the scene, but it was a few more years before I got into that, so I was still buying vinyl. I don't think this music has dated as much as a lot of stuff from the 80s.
I managed to find an official video this time.
Rock on!
