Well this one is as it's made up of lots of layers of plywood. This is an experiment by luthier Steve Benford, who built one of my guitars. He's taken lots of strips of plywood and glued them together. He's done the same with the neck, which is a really odd thing to do and it caused some issues with the frets and the screws to the neck. Drilling into plywood that way won't give the screws much to bite on.
So how does it sound? He's done a blind comparison with his main guitar, built by him of course. I have to say the plywood guitar with cheap pickups sounds pretty good to me. I really think a lot of sound comes from the player, but there are so many other factors. He says there is a difference, but which is 'better' is subjective.
There is a lot of rubbish talked about guitars and what they are made of. The most expensive woods may not produce the best sound for everyone, but they can look nice. How a guitar looks and feels will affect your attitude to it and how you play. There are plenty of guitars made from other materials such as metal, plastics, carbon fibre etc. Use whatever works for you.
