I may be able to get some electronics working, but my plumbing skills are limited. I know the basics, but sometimes you need the experience to know what to do.
A while back our washing machine started leaking. I traced it to the water pipe where the washer seemed to be distorted. I ended up getting a new hose that I fitted. These things are supposed to be tightened by hand, but it seems to take a little more force to get a good seal. I'm finding it seems okay for a while, but overnight it will have leaked again.
These things are pretty simple. It's a washer pressing on the edge of the inlet that should provide the seal, but maybe this washer is just really hard.
I looked on some DIY forums where people did recommend using tools to nip it a bit tighter. The last time I did this it seemed okay for a while, but then leaked again. It's a good thing we have vinyl flooring in the utility room, but it's just annoying now. Someone on a forum mentioned PTFE tape and that brought sighs from the experts saying it's not the answer to every plumbing problem. It's not supposed to seal on the thread. I am pretty sure it's not cross-threaded.
Are there any plumbers on here with some suggestions. I'll pay 5 SBD to whoever comes up with the best fix that really works.
Update: I sent some SBD to people who gave good suggestions, but I ended up buying a different hose. That had much more grip on the connectors so they were easy to turn by hand. The washers may be better as it has not leaked yet. I hope this is the answer.
